The Unspoken Heroes

Because they care....

I thought I might start a series on those who never wish to be thanked, never get the awards or seek them, never seek attention but rather seek fulfillment in answering the calling.

Who for decades take the tired rhetoric on the chin " But where's the money going" from those who do not offer them a cent.

Who create a meal out of nothing.

Who would rather go without so another might have.

Today we celebrate Emma Hermansen nee Payne. For over 20 years now Emma has been feeding the less privileged children of Thorngrove Bulawayo. In better times the menu was a little more extensive but today she struggles to feed them a very basic meal of sadza and sugar beans and when available cabbage or a few meat chunks with veggies.

Loyal supporters assist but even these are drying up. The feeding scheme named after Emma's late mum Granny B Payne has been something to look forward to for these children.

Today we are proud to partner with Emma as The Cherished Child(Community Action Trust 1183951) and are seeking your help to sustain this please and improve a little on the menu . Emma tries to feed 90 children every Saturday, but slowly this as become more adhoc as supplies have dwindled .. She does an extra special meal at Christmas time for 120 children and adds a small party pack. Emma does most of the cooking herself, with her small team cooking the sadza on an open fire in Thorngrove and helping her serve. These are our heroes ! Herewith basic list needed every feed.

10 kg sugar beans

10 kg mealie meal

1 litre cooking oil

10 kg meat

5kg veggies

Onions

Tomatoes

Can you help? Can WE help?Especially for the Christmas lunch .
